A CCTV design should begin with what needs to be seen and recorded, rather than selecting an arbitrary camera quantity
Define the Surveillance Objective
An entrance may require suitable identification detail, while a corridor or perimeter may need a wider view. The field of view, lens, installation height, distance and lighting must be selected for the intended task
Night-Time Performance and Placement
Direct sunlight, reflections, low lighting and moving obstacles can affect image quality. The final location should be reviewed on site and tested under realistic lighting conditions
Network and Recording Capacity
IP cameras need compatible network switches, sufficient PoE power, bandwidth and secure recording infrastructure. Retention depends on bit rates, compression, number of cameras, frame rate and recording schedules, not only disk capacity
Access, Privacy and Handover
Give users only the viewing and export rights they require, protect administration accounts and maintain updates. Follow applicable Saudi rules, privacy obligations and project-specific requirements. Handover should include recording tests and user access details
